Dr. Kirin Syed DO
Dr. Kirin Syed is the co-director of The Department of Urology Global Prostate Cancer Team in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Dr. Syed is originally from the New England area. She received a B.A. in microbiology from Ohio Wesleyan University and earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine (UMDNJ).
Dr. Syed completed her internship and residency in urological surgery at UMDNJ (now Rowan University) in New Jersey and then went on to complete a clinical fellowship in voiding dysfunction, female urology and urologic reconstruction at the Bladder Health and Reconstructive Urology Institute (BHRUI) in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Syed is an active member in the American Urological Association (AUA), Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) and Society of Women in Urology (SWIU).
Her past research has been conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Rutgers University/ Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rowan University and BHRUI. Her research efforts have been presented at multiple national conferences, published in posters, abstracts, and journals. She has given numerous lectures on prostate cancer, reconstructive urology and women’s pelvic floor health and has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications, textbook chapters, journal articles and abstracts.
She leads one of the world’s most comprehensive teams dedicated to the coordinated effort of eradicating prostate cancer.
Dr. Syed is a leader in advanced surgical techniques for pelvic reconstruction, voiding dysfunction and prostate cancer detection. She focuses on a wide variety of complex prostate and bladder pathologies. Her innovate techniques have led to vast improvements in male and female urinary incontinence, stricture disease, urinary fistulae, female pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain.
